Emergency

If you are in immediate danger, call 000 (Police, Fire, Ambulance).
For non-emergency police matters, contact 131 444 or visit police.gov.au.

1. Check profiles and reviews

Always read the driver's profile, check their reviews, and look for the Verified Driver badge before booking. Verified drivers have had their licence confirmed by our team. A strong review history is a good sign of a trustworthy driver.

2. Meet in public places

Arrange pickup at a well-lit, public location — a train station, shopping centre, or busy street corner. Avoid giving out your home address to someone you have not met before.

3. Tell someone your plans

Before any trip, let a friend or family member know:

  • Where you are going and the expected arrival time
  • The driver's name and vehicle details
  • Share your live location via your phone if possible
4. Trust your instincts

If something does not feel right, do not get in the car. It is always okay to cancel a booking, even at the last minute. Your safety is more important than being polite. Trust your gut — if the driver's behaviour makes you uncomfortable, leave.

5. Report concerns

If you experience unsafe behaviour, report it immediately. Use the Contact page to report any driver or passenger. For serious incidents, contact police at 131 444 or in an emergency call 000.

6. Never pay cash upfront

FuelShare is a cost-sharing platform. Drivers should only charge their fair share of fuel and toll costs — not a profit. Never pay in advance for a booking. Arrange payment in person at pickup or on arrival. Be wary of drivers asking for upfront payment via bank transfer.

Driver verification

Drivers with a Verified Driver badge have uploaded their Australian driver's licence and had it reviewed by our team. This provides an extra layer of identity assurance. Look for this badge when choosing a driver.

Are you a driver? Upload your licence in your profile settings to get verified.
